Help me!

Hey ya'll! I'm working on my devotional book manuscript and have to turn in at least the first 30 days this week so they can review it (insert me having an anxiety attack here). So I want some help from each and every one of you! I have my outline and even my scriptures, but I decided I needed to get some info from the kind of folks who will actually be reading this.

Can you please answer the questions below? It would realllllllllllyyyyy help me. :)

Here we go...

1. Describe your current devotional time. What time of day? Where do you do it?
2. Do you use a devotional book? Which one?
3. What issues would you most want included in a devo book?
4. What do you look for in a devotional guide?
5. Any other feedback or ideas you can give me? HELP ME. :)

Thanks, ya'll!!

Here we go...

1. Describe your current devotional time. What time of day? EVENING. BEFORE BED I PUT MY HEADPHONES ON, LISTEN TO WORSHIP MUSIC AND DIVE INTO WORSHIP AND BIBLE STUDY...

Where do you do it? ON MY BED
2. Do you use a devotional book? Which one? NO

3. What issues would you most want included in a devo book? RE-PRIORITIZING MY ACTIONS TO REFLECT MY CONVICIONS AS CHRIST AS #1... DESPITE ALL THE CRAZY BUSY-NESS IN LIFE, I WANT TO FOCUS ON SERVICE TO MY SAVIOR.
4. What do you look for in a devotional guide? TOPICS THAT I CAN RELATE TO. BRIEF YET TOUCHING DEVOTIONALS THAT ALLOWS ME TO BE INSPIRED, AND THEN DIG DEEPER IN PRAYER AND SCRIPTURE.
5. Any other feedback or ideas you can give me? HELP ME. :)

YOU'LL DO GREAT AMBER!!! YOU HAVE A TRUE GIFT WITH WORDS!!

1. In the morning before anyone else gets up. I do it at my desk or on my couch.
2.I use study bibles and on-line devotionals.
3. I think I would like a devotional that gave me ideas on how to re-focus my time. I also would like something that gave me new inventive ways to teach my children the word of God.
4.Something that is easy to read. Something that uses humor to keep my attention.
5.I love how bright your blog is carry this over to your book. Keep it bright and hopeful!

I don't know exactly what you are planning on doing but there is something I would love to read! If there was a devotional book for new mommys who have very little "alone" time but like to make the most of that time, that would be great. I am having a hard time with devotionals right now for many reasons but that is a big one. I know that sounds horrible but you have to stop when the baby screams or spits or whatever and daddy's not home to get him. That's just this tired new mommy's opinion.

I usually do it whenever I have time. No real pattern to it. I have daily devotional emails sent to my phone that I read.

2. Do you use a devotional book? Which one?

Proverbs 31 Ministries

3. What issues would you most want included in a devo book?

Not all doom and gloom entries. As in about spending time with Him. How to grow closer with Him on a good day. Many devotionals just focus on when your life is falling apart or when you are stressed out. I would like to see something with a good mix.

4. What do you look for in a devotional guide?

Real-language. Christians have their own language and many times try to write a way that just comes out fake. Just to talk like you normally would (as in how you blog) would be great.

As well, I look for content to not be oversimplified or too school-ish. As in questions like "what is Jesus saying on this line?" or "why is the sky blue in this passage?" Things that make me state the obvious or reiterate the text just drive me nuts. I want content that relates the text to my life, and has specific things that I can do each day.

As in, "In what ways have you ever felt like Esther? Have you ever been stuck between your convictions and service to God and the life you live in?" (I'm totally making up these quotes as I go, please do not blame me if they are wrong in any way). With application items like, "Every time you was your hands this week, say a prayer for someone else."

5. Any other feedback or ideas you can give me? HELP ME. :)

I think I gave you as much as I could think off. Feel free to ask me any more specific questions. You'll do great, relax and just listen. I have every confidence in you!!

1. I do mostly morning, but try to have one before I go to bed too. (I like to think God thoughts while I sleep.) :)
2. I don't generally use a devotional book, but I do read David Jeremiah's monthly devotional magazine.
3. ones that focus on my relationship with God.
4. I can't help you here. Sorry!
5. Use as much Bible as you can! I love anything that has the Word of God in it!

Here are my answers and I hope this helps:

1. Usually in the morning before my husband gets up and the dogs have to be fed... I sit at my desk.
2. I get bible studies and devotionals by email, but my bible is the most important part.... Usually where it falls open or where I turn to first
3. Increasing my knowledge of the word and what I should be doing as a Christian.
4. Something easy to read, but truthfully... not just to make you feel good stuff.. Knowledge wisdowm that I can apply to my struggles.
5. You are great at inspiring others, using Gods word seems to me to be the perfect step for you... You will be great!
