Devo Sneak Peak

Turns out yesterday's disaster was good food for thought. Want a sneak peak at one of the devotions that will be included in the book? Shhh... don't tell anyone you saw it!

"Running on Fumes"

Embrace God's Word - Read John 10. Focus on verse 10.

Do you ever feel like you are running out of gas? Maybe your alarm didn’t go off and you woke up a few minutes late. You spent the entire morning racing the clock so you would be on time for work or so the kids wouldn’t be late to school. Maybe you stayed up too late chatting on the phone or reading your favorite blogs online. It is bound to happen to every woman at some point in her life. She stops in the middle of the day and feels like she needs to go back to bed and start all over again! Exhaustion can drain a woman and make her feel like she is running on fumes.

As we strive to live as women of Christ, it is important that we never let our gas tank run too low. If we start to be empty, we will see the consequences spilling out into our lives. We might be short with our husbands, sarcastic with our friends, or irritable with our children. We won’t feel like going to church or calling a friend to offer encouragement. No matter how much we know we need to do those things, we just can’t muster the willingness to do them. If you’ve ever felt this way, then it is time to take a closer look at John 10:10.

In this passage, Jesus says, “The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy. I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.” It was never His plan for you to feel overwhelmed. He doesn’t want you to view daily life as a battle, where you are just surviving until bed time. Instead, He desires for you to experience the abundant life that He is offering you. There is only one catch. You have to be willing to let Him fill your gas tank.

If you want to stop running on fumes and start to experience life the way Jesus offers it, you have to take the time to let Him fill you up each day. You can never be a good friend, wife, mother, sister, daughter, or coworker unless you are first His child. As women, we need to make a conscious effort to take time to be in His presence and allow Him to fill our tanks so that we can serve others effectively throughout the day.

Embrace New Life –
1. When was the last time you felt like you were running on fumes?
2. What areas of your life do you need to rearrange so Jesus can fill your tank?
3. Are there other things filling your tank that leave no room for Him?

Embrace Prayer –
Heavenly Father, I confess to you that sometimes I feel like I’m simply running on fumes. My life starts moving so quickly and I don’t stop and take the time to sit in your presence and listen for your voice. Please forgive me for putting other things in the places of my heart that only you can fill. Lord, please fill me up today so that I can love those around me with your love. Give me your perfect peace as I walk through this day. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Did you write that just for me?? I really need that message. And just so you know if the teaser is that good, then I can't wait to dig into the w-h-o-l-e book! Thanks so much for reminding me to fill my tank. I'm going to bed with my Bible now! God's blessings, Sarah :D

Ok so you may not know this, but I'm pretty sure God had you write that just for me to read today.

...at least that's how it feels :-) because it really has been "one of those days"...

:-) thanks for the encouragement!

Thank you Amber for this. I really needed to hear and read it this week. I've been burning the candle at both ends and coming up short. Keep up the great work.
