Write His Name 2009 - Will You Help Me?

Write His Name.

Psalm 9:10 says "And those who know Your name will put their trust in You,

For You, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You."

People need to know His name. Remember last month when I met Mai, the precious woman who had never heard the name of Jesus? I've been thinking about her today. As Christmas is approaching so quickly, I feel an urgency to do something. Now is the time of year when people should be celebrating Jesus. They need to hear His name right now. Instead of hearing about Santa Claus, reindeer, holiday cheer, and the best gifts of 2009, they need to just hear the name of Jesus.

Say it out loud right now.

Jesus.

So here is what I am thinking. What if we all worked together and spread His name? What if we start putting His name everywhere? From now until Christmas, let's put the name of Jesus everywhere we go. Everytime someone turns around, let them see His name. And as they see His name, let's pray that they seek Him. Psalm 9:10 says that if they seek Him, He will not forsake them.

We need to get His name out in our communities. At the supermarket, at the doctor's office, in the carpool line, at movie theaters, in restaurants...

Everywhere we go, people need Jesus. They are dying, lost and without hope because they do not know His name. We can change that.

I've seen it done on plenty of blogs. Stellan's name was written all over the world. This organization specializes in writing names in the sand to honor the lives of lost babies. So why can't we all start writing the name of Jesus all over the world?

Do you want to help share Christ this Christmas? Then help me write His name. Make a commitment today to put His name somewhere every day between now and Christmas. You can write it on a napkin and leave it on the table at a restaurant. You can tape it to a bathroom wall. You can scribble it on a mirror with dry erase marker. Get creative. You can write the name "Jesus" all over the world! If you can, leave a copy of Psalm 9:10 with it. Even better, leave a gospel track beside the name or a little note that says, "I just wanted you to hear the name of my best friend".

Do whatever you can to spread His name.

I'm not asking you to spend Christmas as a foreign missionary in Ethiopia. I'm not even asking you to stand on a street corner and tell people that Jesus is the true reason for Christmas. I don't want you to give money to a particular charity or send gifts to those in need. While all those things are good, and very important, it is more important that we just let people hear the name of Jesus this Christmas.
