Sunday afternoon, I had a weird twinge in my right side. It was kind of like the way you feel when you run too far, too fast. It was like a stitch in my ribs that wouldn't let up.
By Monday morning, I was tired from a night of tossing and turning. I decided I'd go to Urgent Care to be checked out, just in case it was something bad like my appendix. I expected it was just indigestion, but better to be safe than sorry, right?
Well Doctor #1 at Urgent Care said it was definitely my gall bladder and it would need to come out immediately. He sent me to the radiologist for an ultrasound.
After the ultrasound (which hurt like pulling your toe nail off, I might add), Doctor #1 said to go see Doctor #2 at the ER for more tests.
By 9 PM I was feeling a little better after lots of morphine and Doctor #2 had decided that my liver was enlarged, but probably just because it was fat. (Just what a girl wants to hear... I have a fat liver). Apparently a fat liver shouldn't hurt tough, which doesn't really solve the problem of the pain that has gradually worsened since it started. So Doctor #2 asked Doctor #3 who told him that a liver could cause pain if it was too fat. But Doctor #2 called Doctor #4 who happened to be a specialist and Doctor #4 said that a fat liver definitely DID NOT cause pain and that was not the problem. He wanted to see me in the office. So Doctor #2 told me to go home and take some happy pills and call Doctor #4 in the morning. So I did go home and I've been laying here in the bed ever since (occasionally throwing up between happy pills).
It turns out that Doctor #4 is too busy for me, so he has scheduled me with Doctor #5 tomorrow afternoon. Everyone tells me that Doctor #5 is fantastic and I will be in good hands.
All I know is I have a fat liver (despite losing 15 pounds since January 1st, I might add). And a fever. And pain that even the happy pills aren't chasing away completely. I'm also wondering how many doctors it's gonna take to get some relief.
Will ya'll say a prayer for me?

Oh, Amber. I'm praying that everything is ok and not serious. I'm praying that Doctor #5 will work out and find out what is wrong with you. Hopefully your hubby is taking care of you while you're out. Don't you wish we all had a substitute on hand for times like these?
Geez praying doctor #5 does not need to consult with #6 or #7 ha!
I had this back in the fall... seriously worse than contraction pain... i was vomiting from the pain...They determined it was some Colotis (spelled really wrong). Maybe google it...
So I'm wondering, have you payed co-pays to Doctors 1-5?! ;> I gotta tell ya, a fatty liver is new to me BUT it is common to have gallbladder problems after a significant weight loss. I'm unsure of the reason... maybe Doctor 5 could shine a little light on that subject?? Hope you feel better soon!
God's blessings,
Sarah :D
My first thought was "oooh, that does not sound fun." My second thought was "I wonder if she lives in TX, because I have never experienced such, um, interesting health care anywhere else" and my 3rd thought was "oh, OF COURSE I will pray for her!" I'll also be praying for Dr # 5 (or was it 6?)
PRAYING ALREADY......
SOUNDS LIKE THE HOSPITAL I WORK AT LOL
HOPE.
